I just did a calculation on the returns for shareholders that MIns has generated since listing in 2006 at 90 c per share, including dividends and franking credits it is 39% per annum.
This places Mins performance in the top 0.5% of all ASX companies, and as i have often stated Chris Ellison's performance with capital allocation and shareholder value creation is significantly ahead of Warren Buffet, Howard Marks, Ray Dalio etc over the same period.
In my view he is probably the best capital allocator in the Australian Market, and why we want him to stay on as CEO since Onslow from now will be generating $1 bn plus of free cash flow per year, so there will be a lot of surplus capital to allocate.
Onslow cost $3.8 bn, will pay for itself within 3 years, and then generate $1.5 bn of free cash per year for the next 25 years. That is what i call good capital allocation!
Best of luck to those trying to short this long term story.
I believe they are looking at this all wrong: the share price run up to + $90 was caused by Lithium at US $8000, and the subsequent pull back because Lithium has fallen to US $700 is not within Mins control. But the long term trend in value creation for Mins is strong an undeniable.
