Mr Wright said BNZ "is a good model for other markets including [Australia]. It is something we would like to replicate".
He said Mint will not be acquiring a banking license and does not want to compete directly with banks. But with it taking a percentage of the transaction fee value when merchants process payments through its partners, one of Mint's big opportunities will be to provide credential tokenisation services that allow payments to be made through applications sitting on mobile phones, Mr Wright said.
