I can't get over your conspiracy idea. Yes, sometimes the majority is wrong, but to suggest scientists have an agenda is dispicable. Did Darwin have an "agenda". How about Copernicus or Galileo?

Scientists are about facts and to suggest that they are after grants or whatever is shameful.

Their truth in research is such that many would die rather than deny the facts they see.

In fact scientists are anything but social engineers. Many are Asperger's sufferers (the old absent minded professor syndrome). They have little interest in social dynamics or causes and are single minded in the quest for truth regardless of politics, monetary reward or status.
