    very interesting thread grafton.

pintohoo makes a couple of good points. indeed the roles of women and men are slowly being manipulated to be reversed and this goes against the natural order of the universe - man and woman are NOT equal, never have been and never will be. they were intentionally made different so that each could fulfil different roles in society and the family.

there are 7 reasons why the roman empire fell which is derived from sexuality, marriage and family

two books “decline of a nation” and “when nations die” refer to this decline

in 1934 joseph unwin wrote that cultures that held to a strong sexual ethic thrived and were more productive than those that were sexually free

another book “our dance has turned to death” written by carl wilson discusses family decline and lists 7 stages of decline – this was written about the roman empire.

men ceased to lead their families in worship - spiritual development became mechanical

men neglected wives and children to pursue political and material wealth and war – they denied their families

there was a change in men’s sexual values families - either neglected their wives sexually and became involved in lower class women or homosexuality - men have become followers not leaders in the family. they start to sleep around and look for excitement in other places.

women then became affected - the role of women in raising the children and the household lost value and status amongst the nation. it was looked down upon for a woman to be a housewife - then they look for freedom outside the marriage and emphasise sex for pleasure. they then go to work to compete with men

husbands and wives then start competing against each other for money - home leadership and the affection of the children which led to hostility and frustration and the primary cause of homosexuality in children. marriages then broke up and led to divorce and separation

selfish individualism grew and carried over in the society - fragmenting it into smaller and smaller groups leading to a weakening of the society by internal conflict. thius led to a decreased birth rate giving an older population leaving the nation with less ability to defend itself and less will to do so making the nation more vulnerable to its enemies

finally the last stage was an unbelief in god, parental authority was diminished and ethical and moral principles disappeared affecting the economy and the government. because of internal weakness and fragmentation the society fell apart.

This was written about the roman empire – but the parallels then and now are striking.
