And nor is Mal Turnbull representative of most men. However, these politicians do *represent* all of us, even though they may not be typical of us. Also, these folks who have done very well now in their high positions, were perhaps not always so well off. Some were just talented, as I believe is the case for Ms Gillard and Ms Plibersek. Julia came from working class stock, and Tania was just a regular student hack/activist back in the day. Most of our politicians are just regular people. We don't have political dynasties like some other countries have.
