Barbarian - Weren't you predicting an early deal being announced with NN a few weeks ago in your post re: the trading halt?
Considering it will cost NN nothing to exercise their option, one would think they would do so.
Just because Dr. Ando has left, does not mean NN are not interested. It could just mean he/they realised whatever deal they had made previously with Jones etc. has been spoiled and there's no point occupying a board where they don't have the balance of power.
With Dr Ando gone from the board the only thing which separates NN from any other big pharma company is this 1st option they have so it would make no sense to discard that.
A quick look at their website shows that 6 of the 20 drugs they have in the "R&D Pipeline" are for RA/Inflammation. They have obviously identified a good opportunity in that market if they are pouring so much of their own R&D money into it.
Would be very surprised to see them walk away from Cbio after the time/money already invested. As Mr Ando himself said, a big pharma needs 2 new drugs every year to sustain their growth rate.
