    Excellent finds @pierogi...... Its interesting how Menzies recorded impressions seem to have looked at the progress through fiscal stimulus to overcome the "double" depression that Germany had suffered after WW1.

    I recall that Menzies also earned the name of "Pig Iron Bob" for selling cheap, low grade iron to Japan which was turned into bombs which rained down on Darwin. I remember how my grandfather used to get very angry with Menzies and rant how Menzies had enabled much destruction and danger to Australian lives.

    Its often thought that our worst mistakes are what we are remembered for, yet the good that Menzies did in later years seems to have erased his earlier sins from the popular memory. Whereas the positives that even Hitler did were erased by the absolute evil of his motives and actions.
