Thank you for your informative post. However, I would point out that I use the dictionary to determine the correct meaning of words and NOT terms or phrases.
'Light Sweet Crude' is a term or phrase. It is certainly NOT a word and would not, therefore, appear in a dictionary. I also appreciate that the word 'sweet' in the context of the discussion on oil is not the equivalent of its dictionary meaning.
It seems, from your post and that from Milesg, that the word misperception has been 'coined' by the Americans and, hence, that explains why it does not appear in the Oxford dictionary but presumably appears in Websters.
I gather from your post and that from Miles that you, and others I presume, have replaced the Oxford dictionary with the 'Google' dictionary.
