I am still holding but not as many as I did pre con, I sold them all for a smaller profit than I would have liked then, but didn't want the risk of a negative post con situation.
I bought back in post con around .33 on what seemed to be a increasing market and made a bit with a trailing stop loss when they dropped back down from .45 to .40 and were sold.
I am know back in around .33 and will let them ride for the longer term. If they should eventually start to climb to .60+ I will review the situation then.
If I wasn't already a long term investor in ABU (since 2007) I would be reluctant to consider it as an investment at this time, along with any other gold mining shares that are available. My thoughts are that the general consensus is that the POG is still heading south and likely to go 1180 in the near future and may reach 1050 early next year before making a slow comeback.
Should this scenario play out there may be big shortfall of investors wanting in, especially the bigger players.
This may result in cash shortages that are needed to progress the mines potential, pay the high admin and development costs and shackle any SH added value for the immediate future.
When all the right signals start happening I feel that there will still be good profit to be made in ABU, albeit not as much as was envisaged in the .02 pre con buy in days, where 10 fold profit was forecast by some.
I personally do not see the need to jump in when the price is rock bottom and wait to see what happens. I prefer to see a stock that is on a slow steady incline and less volatile and will follow it on the way up until the time is right to part with it (always before a 15% loss takes place).
So to answer the question to a would be investor in abu I would say wait and see what the outcome is of any news if any comes from DH and keep a very close eye on the POG as I consider this the be all and end all for the miners. Like I said though this is just my 2 cents and the way I would react, but it doesn't mean that it is the right thing to do for others. I may be less cavalier than many as this is the only way I make my income. For me it is not how big the profit is (any profit will do) but how big the potential loss may be.
