Recently I wrote to Boeing asking why all aircraft built don't have the inside of the outer skin tattooed in a grid of individual numbers and letters . My belief is that it would assist in 1. Identifying the aircraft itself in the case of pieces washing ashore after a crash or misadventure. 2. Would assist in reconstructing a wreckage if the numbers and letters corresponded to certain areas of the fuselage.

What about spraying each plane with data dots when it is painted......you would be able to identify the outer skin via the micro security id on the plane.
