i honestly thought it would smash HTA, but the hutch stores i've spoken to have seen a good reponse to the "bring your iphone" plans so the kids are buying them outright and then signing up on the big data hutch plans.
The rough Optus figures on iphone signups (talking to a couple of dealers and third party sellers) appear to be 30% porting from telstra, 30% from voda and 40% from HTA (i'd love to know how many of those HTA are outright purchases)
I still can't see hutch going anywhere, they know have a national 850 spectrum that can put them up against Telstras Next G, but who would lend them cash in this climate to build it?
Wampoa is on the nose in HK as well so i don't see $$$ from there and if anything Sainsbury from the Australian has probably hit it by predicting a sale to telstra.
