Hi Dobe,
Tahnks for the thought.
Right now, I am spending every 2 week break I get (I work 4 and 2) in Beijing attending a 1 on 1 Mandarin school (see www.1on1mandarin.com) for 3 hrs/day, just the teacher and I.
It ain't free, that's for sure....just coughed up another 5900 RMB today for another 50 hr block.
My school uses about 3 different recognised texts....depending on what you want to learn....speaking, reading/writing or the whole shebang.
Because I have chosen to learn the lot, I am using the New Practical Chinese Reader text books. This text is the same as ANU used when I first started (only one semester and Book 1) learning Mandarin there.
I purchased book 3 today, so I will be starting that in the next 2 weeks or so.....bloody hard going for me at the moment but I am sure it will pay dividends in the future.
Checking out the website you gave me now, as I actually do not think I had come accross it in the past.
Thanks again.
K-Man
Disclosure: I recommend that anyone staying in China for the longterm invests in learning the language :-)
