This Mdivi-1 is a quinazolinone, just like our ATH434, however, of course, they have some differences. To understand how Mdivi-1 was found and what kind of qualifications it has, you can go to this paper, published 16 years ago:

    https://www.cell.com/developmental-cell/fulltext/S1534-5807(07)00475-3?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS1534580707004753%3Fshowall%3Dtrue

Most likely this paper is somehow related to how 434 inventors came to the solution to select quinazoline as a potential drug for mitochondrial diseases. There are a lot of experimental papers with Mdivi-1.

So it is not a wonder that our 434 is a mitochondrion drug and because of that there will many different diseases it can help.
