I missed the Fisker announcement. Although I am sceptical that the battery breakthrough will come from a car manufacturer, the Sakti connection is probably enough to have to take it seriously. I have no doubt that it will involve lithium - the energy density advantages are too compelling to look elsewhere.


Many of the big players are chasing solid state - lots of predictions that a commercial solid state technology will emerge within the next two or three years. The sooner, the better.

I still like the look of this battery that survives gunshots and being cut with scissors. The clip showing small fizzy battery fires was in the back of my mind when I hatched my plan - it made the explosive outcome all the more startling.
