Ouagadougou - An 11-year-old child hit by a stray police bullet during unrest in the Burkinabe capital Ouagadougou has died of his injuries, Security Minister Jerome Bougouma said on Saturday.
The child, accidentally shot in the head during a police mutiny on Wednesday evening at the barracks of the Republican Security Company (CRS) in the Dassasgho district, died two days later in hospital, Bougouma told reporters.
The incident happened as police officers, both inside and outside the barracks, fired in the air.
Health Minister Adama Traore said that brought the death toll in the wave of police mutinies in Ouagadougou alone to six.
The recent unrest started with a mutiny among soldiers on March 23 and on Wednesday and Thursday spread to the police in the capital and across the country.

Government has scrambled to quell a wave of popular anger that has spread across the west African nation since the end of February against Compaore's regime and the high cost of living.
Officials have released no details as to casualties across the country during the unrest.
