Hey forty2km, just wanted to correct something in your comment: that photo is not from a recent manned flight, the photo is from a manned flight 3 years ago, pilot James Bowker.
Additionally (no corrections, just more info): the white chute is a BRS unit used widely on Microlights and used during the 5000ft flight stunt. It uses a rocket to pull out the chute.
The black unit looks to be custom with pre spreaders, this would help with rapid opening times. I would like to see what it's performance is during forward flight or in the event of injestion/destruction of a rotor on the jetpack (the aircraft will flip very rapidly). Looking forward to testing videos!
