There is someone on the board that has a LOT of shares. I would like to think that Harry is always looking at the board and asking himself "are they the right people".

That said, I don't think it is essential for a director to hold shares. Would a director of a school board or a hospital board be any less committed to seeing the enterprise succeed just because they have no "skin in the game"

I did the AICD course about five years ago and there was no mention of having to be a shareholder of the companies that you represent at board level.
