Should federal legislation come into effect which legalizes store front medical marijuana dispensaries, then Council could either:
a) consider applications for medical marijuana dispensaries on a case-by-case basis through a zoning amendment application process. This would give surrounding property owners the opportunity to both be notified regarding an application and provide input through a public hearing process; or
b) revise the Zoning Bylaw with provisions to permit medical marijuana dispensaries under specific conditions (i.e. minimum distance from schools). This type of amendment would provide the opportunity for one public hearing but not specific notification to surrounding property owners.
