I remember some debate after 9/11 about whether such events should be considered in a technical aspect.
I guess we all make decisions on what we see and some include the fundamental reasons behind the numbers whilst others just accept the numbers.
My personal take is that they should be acknowledged and not dismissed in any fashion as they are as always simply the reflection of sentiment at the time.
Fear and greed is what makes the markets and 'events' is what causes the volatility.
I think I know where you are coming from though and we use what information is available to make our best trading decisions whether fundamental or Technical.
I do wonder why the angst some times by people against either when fundamentals and technicals are simply different time frames of the same expression.
