Miners reveal coal plans

MANTLE Mining will hold an open day for the public on Saturday.
It follows the resumption of drilling on the last 10 holes of its 15-hole coal exploration program in the area.

Exploration manager Callum Lamont said the second open day would provide an opportunity for the community to know what the drill program was designed to achieve.

He said the public would be able to see samples, the drill rig, diagrams and 3D images of the drilling process.

"The sub-surface image developed at this stage includes data from some 70 boreholes from previous drilling programs carried out in the Bacchus Marsh region by both government and private companies. It also demonstrates the gaps in the existing underground information which the Mantle Mining program is designed to fill in."

The open day, from 11am-4pm, is off Bacchus Marsh-Balliang Road in Albys Lane
