I don't think it's a joke, i haven't been to the site, but no doubt there is an ecosystem there with native grasses that native insects live on which feed native birds and no doubt it's quite fragile. however it has been high-lighted that the site is fringed by human inhabitation all running air con or at the least fridges, electric lights and washing machines, all tapping into base-load electricity and unwilling to settle for less. the harsh reality is you can't have your native grass and burn it. Humans eh?
