A lot of East Gippsland's timber is doing this already and that is the same line.
My 10 year timeframe is founded on nothing more than speculation and my opinion mixed with some benchmarked delivery lead times on peer comparisoned projects.
No project is ever exactly the same and that is probably the only thing you are right about.
Anyway, debating this with you is becoming an exercise in futility.
By the way, I have been informed by some very learned friends in the industry that my statement about $1M per metre is a bit harsh and probably the extreme upper end of estimation as it assumes a collective price which includes cost of land purchase, road re-engineering, underpasses, stations, sungalling etc etc. For straight laying down of track its probably closer to $4-$5M per km.
Even so, all of those other associated costs are variables determined by location and conditions so some factoring of their imopact is required for any rail project.
