What do you mean the values are not accumulated?

On 20th September there were 2,153,295 short positions in place/610,385,996 shares on issue

On 21st September no new shorts were taken

the total shorts decreased to 1,309,758/610,385,996 = 843,538 shorts closed off

On 24th September there were 219,916 new short positions taken. Yet closing saw total shorts = 974,131/610,385,996

So considering new shorts taken out on the 24th, this must mean (1,309,758 previous days total shorts + 219,916 new shorts - 974,131 total short positions at end of day) = 555,542 shorts closed that day.

so technically, over the 2 days there were 1,399,080 short positions closed and 219,916 new short positions taken up.
