People can call them savages or whatever. Quite frankly all waffle.they were built differently, they sense differently. The type of banale focus required for shitty western dog jobs and training for same is not natural for most imo.
i believe the sheer size of Oz, the lack of hard winter and the lack of herd animals to follow made them more transient and less organised than the native Americans for example. They aren't stupid they just culturally and probably selectively are that way.
additionally the fragile cultures which were geared toward your next meal and survival are either now not viable or lost.
perhaps landcare tasking, controlled burning tasking etc can instill a sense of custodianship and role. Is it all too hard ? Possibly. But I don't see many better ideas.
