It felt like a VERY long bow to pull, indeed (but at least he did admit he was guessing).
I think it could just as easily be that MSB issued the release ON ITS OWN--perhaps even as a way to chivvy Novartis along. None of us have seen the agreement, so don't know what terms prevail before Novartis well and truly crap off get off the pot. I don't see MSB tying its hands so tightly that it is prevented from merely issuing a non-price sensitive announcement re: issuance of a peer-reviewed publication unless Novartis gives them the okay.
