I used Birkinau as my example due to it still being largely intact, apart from the two huge gas chambers that were blown up by the Nazis when they retreated.
I also observed so many more people visiting Auschwitz than Birkinau, although they are considered the same place (they are in the same town) one was a concentration camp, the other, a death camp.
I encourage people also just to google maps the place. it gives one a sober look at the sheer size as well.
