My understanding is that there's a lot of cross-reactivity between antibodies against the original SARS, MERS and SARS-CoV-2 (that is, people who had one of the earlier viruses had some protection against SARS-CoV-2). So it seems hopeful the vaccine would protect against future variants of the same. Other members of the coronavirus family, probably not so much.
