'We just want a solution': Family finally get update after Molly the magpie taken

Molly the magpie's family have been given fresh hope of the bird's return, one month after he was taken away by authorities.

Queensland's Department of Environment, Science and Innovation claimed Molly was being kept unlawfully and confiscated him, leaving Juliette Wells, Reece Mortensen and their puppies Peggy and Ruby heartbroken.

But the couple told Today DESI has contacted them and told them they are working with Premier Steven Miles on what the best course of action is for the bird.

"We just want a solution, I mean it's been a month, so we're just sitting here waiting, but we're willing to work with the department," Juliette said.

She said they couldn't get specific information on where Molly was being kept, but DESI did reveal they were working closely with vets to make sure the bird was healthy and happy.

"But we would actually like some sort of photo or video evidence because we know this bird, so we'd really like to see how he's doing for ourselves," she said.
