In summary..."Molopo plans to divest its Virginia onshore gas asset in South Africa Joanna Hughes said. Molopo has not kicked off a formal sale process and would welcome approaches from financial advisors. It would prefer advisors who would help it find a London based buyer. The company will probably start seeking out buyers for the asset after the SA government grants it production rights, which are expected to come soon. The Virginia project is 'probably an asset that would better sit with another company - it's a bit of a distraction' she said. 'The buyer would likely be a London based company listed on the AIM which could then make the asset the core of their business, Hughes said. Big players like Shell could also be interested' she said.
