    Hello Vvs,

Well if You had paid 45 Cents per Share for $10,000 worth THR and then Sell THR for 32 Cents You have a Capital loss of 13 Cents (28.89 %) for Tax. (You cannot claim the Tax Loss unless You Sell).
Now if you had Purchased $10,000 worth of RIO at $50 and Sold the RIO at $64.45 a Capital Gain of (28.89 %) , You would end up with a Zero Capital Gain for Tax.
If you had not Off-Set by Selling THR You would have been up for $2,890 of Capital Gains from the Rio Transaction at Your Marginal Rate of Tax.
Shares could be manipulated down to improve the Tax loss Selling Position.

No responsability taken for any losses in association with this Posting.

    Regards,

    moly
