    WARNE 6/1 FOR ASHES COMEBACK
Sky Bet's Odds Compare All Prices

Shane Warne is just 6/1 to come to Australia's rescue by making a Test comeback during the ongoing Ashes series.

With Australia going 1-0 down with three to play as a result of England's innings-and-71-run victory in the second Test, the hosts appear in need of some inspiration and Hill's are clearly keen to keep on the right side of a surprise comeback - Warne has not played Test cricket for four years.

The Leeds-based firm also offer just 5/4 that Ricky Ponting is not in charge of Australia for the fifth and final Test in the New Year.

Sky Bet make Warne, currently commentating for television, 16/1 to play in the third Test in Perth but also offer 1/2 about a recall for spinner Nathan Hauritz.

Xavier Doherty, who has taken just three wickets in the first two matches, is out at 4/1 to keep his place.

Andrew Strauss' tourists are now just 2/5 with Sky Bet to win the series after their impressive triumph in Adelaide.

As they need only a draw to retain the Ashes, it's just 1/12 that the urn remains in English hands. It's a 12/1 shot for England to win the remaining games and take a 4-0 series victory. Stan James will give you 14/1.

Australia now need to win at least two of the three remaining Tests, and are out to a general 6/1 for a series win.

Kevin Pietersen was named man of the match in Adelaide for his 227, but he's as big as 5/1 to be England's leading runscorer in the series due to the exploits of 1/4 favourite Alastair Cook.

In a tight top England wicket-taker market, Graeme Swann (nine wickets) is 11/10 favourite after his five-wicket haul in the second innings in Adelaide, ahead of James Anderson (eight) at 11/4 and Steven Finn (nine) at 10/3.

The layers are also betting on Stuart Broad's replacement following the news that the paceman will miss the rest of the tour due to injury.

Both Sky Bet and Blue Square make Chris Tremlett the odds-on favourite, although their prices are markedly different.

Sky Bet go 2/5 that Tremlett, who took seven wickets in the tour match against Australia A last month, plays in the third Test, while BlueSq offer 4/6.

Tim Bresnan is Sky Bet's 10/3 second favourite, while BlueSq go 5/2.

Bresnan's Yorkshire team-mate Ajmal Shahzad can be backed at 4/1 with the former firm.

Blue Square spokesman Neil Lucas said: "We don't expect England to change their style of attack too drastically, therefore we fancy Tremlett will get the nod as a like-for-like replacement at the WACA.

"It's quite probable all three seamers will play in the tour match in between Tests in what could be a 'bowl-off' between them."

Meanwhile, Alastair Cook is as short as 4/1 to break Don Bradman's record for most runs in an Ashes series.

Hill's offer just 4/1 that Cook scores more than 974 runs this winter - the Essex star currently has 450 with three Tests remaining.

However, Paddy Power disagree wildly with Hill's verdict - they offer 40/1 about Cook breaking the record.

The Irish layers also go 14/1 that Cook breaks the English record for most runs in an Ashes series. Wally Hammond holds that record after scoring 905 runs in the 1928/29 series.
