astrazeneca shares off about 5% now - seems like the latest vaccine hopium is wearing off.
Having studied virus/vaccines for a few years during my undergrad years I can tell you that we will not get anything by the end of the year. Maybe by mid next year might be realistic but still quite rapid timeframe for a vaccine.
The critical phase 3 human trials will take probably 6-9months to get sufficient statistical data t o make a go/no go decision.
In addition I think 30-40% of the population will be hesitant to receive the vaccine given the rushed approach.
