I used the example to illustrate that Monckton had not done so - local variations / extremes are very important to people who live there.
Re global CO2 levels not providing the explanation, well those are again global & not local figures & of course CO2 is not the only greenhouse gas affecting air temperatures. That said, there may also be other local factors - changes in local land uses / industry at the time, freakish local weather patterns, bushfires, too many pollies in the area all at the same time [lol].
