I have climbed the tree.

I was over in Albany for a Forestry Conference. I presented a paper on Value Adding.

I had been a Forest Officer at Jimna and had served in fire duty and look out many times.

The Jimna fire tower was the highest in the southern hemisphere.

Fire reporting is a serious business.

Cross reference with another tower, for fixed position.

Call a third tower for the point of triangulation.

Fire is pin pointed.

What is the colour of the smoke (Indicator of intensity).
What angle is the smoke?
Degree of speed..

Fire towers generally have a line of sight to the horizon of 20 klm.

I loved that part of my history.

If I had to pee, I went to the rail, pointed Percy to the leeward side and hoped there were no tourists below.. Lolol.

To climb that monumental hardwood in WA was simply sensational and I thank my life for sharing it with me.
