Actually, one of the other yachts reported 6m waves ... I think they meant the 3-3.5m southerly swell plus 1.5-3m wind waves on top ... which explains why off Maroubra we got hit by a suddenly breaking wave wave from the south-east that flowed over the high side into the cockpit laying the yacht sideways momentarily alliowing blue water to flow above and along the low side of the yacht , hitting me in the chest up to my shoulders and causing my auto lifejacket to inflate like a car airbag !!!!
A quick check that everyone and everything was ok as we continued north.
A quick change of clothes below and I was back up on deck 8))
