TAPE is nothing special, just buy and sell executions going through the 'tape', which is different to the market depth, of bid and ask quantities that 'may' happen. The question is, how to interpret the 'tape', as the 'tape' does not tell you if a buyer is actually buying, or covering a short, or, if a seller is actually selling, or selling out of a long. Jesse Livermore covered this in his book entitled "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" but one must remember that Jesse shot himself in the head.... RIP.
