Hi qiktory,
Adjustment in theory supposed to be neutral, longs get paid, shorts do pay.
But market doesn't stay still and from my exerience I found that after the drop market recovers and sometimes pretty quick (if some blue chip went ex-div) therefore after many times I found that it is much better to be long then short.
On couple of occasions I got long at 15:59hrs and got out before 16:30 then you get div money and don't pay o/nite interest. Pays to find out which stocks going ex-div.
Stay long on those occasions, reduce even your shorts before the event but you will notice that on those days of the big div adjustment market is bid and even reducing shorts is hard. Hope this help.
