SPI Futures traded in a 32 point range Friday night, with a high of 6210, low of 6178, and a close on Saturday morning at the top of the range - at 6210, up 18 points on volume of 11,674 contracts. Based on that range, my pivot point and R and S levels for today are below. Four gaps left down at 6200, 6192, 6187 and 6178 from Friday night, none above. DOW up .43 pct, SNP up .69 pct and Canada (resource driven) up .43 pct. VIX down 8.99 pct to 13.57. US markets mainly up on US-Trade hopium.
Today in 1957, the S&P 500 stock market index was introduced, replacing the S&P 90. The S&P’s 500 companies represent the U.S. market more broadly than the Dow Jones industrial average, which includes the stocks of only 30 companies. The S&P 500 followed the performance of 425 industrial, 15 rail and 60 utility stocks. Sixty-nine of the 500 original companies remain in the S&P 500 today. On June 4, 1968, the S&P 500 closed above 100 for the first time. She is now at 2803.69. Where's that time machine when you need it. Have a nice day.
