LoL - Yea right... The way this works is you are right until the market proves to you that you have no idea :)

Or at least that's how it worked for me.

I think once I realised that "timing" is not a perfect art form, and I've accepted that there will always be opportunities, no matter how many I miss... Selling and waiting, or buying waiting, isn't so hard anymore.

Honestly, don't think there is much of a trick to it if your time-frame is months and years...

It's these intra-day guys that I'm amazed by... I can't do it unless the trade is REALLY obvious... Then I just ride the momentum.

I'd be the dude in the surf that keeps missing waves, watches everyone else having' fun, until a HUGE one comes along and without trying I get smashed and dragged into the shore - wasn't particularly elegant, but I caught it none-the-less :)
