"Question is, is Telstra the place to be in 10 years."

Looking in my crystal ball and all I see is haze.
Same with BHP, RIO, CBA,

I am much more interested where it will be on Monday and Thursday, next month, and as we go.

I do not think one can buy some shares nowadays, put them in a bottom draw and live happily ever after. All one can do is to form a view about short and medium prospects and then continue monitoring, re-evaluating.

It, is same like getting on the bus, really. I want to go somewhere nice, I get on the bus. I enjoy the ride, if the engine sounds crocked or driver looks incompetent or the road suddenly turns bad, I will get off. Look for another bus (shares) going alternate way, or I change mode of transport, boat( real estate) or plane ( fixed interest).

I can try to stay on something that will take me where I want to go. Or I could stay put, put my money under mattress and never go anywhere, watch my pile getting smaller and being bored in the same spot with smaller and smaller stash.
Up to the individual, really.
