JORCs of alluvial resources are the epitome of a resource 'estimate'. The random distribution of stones in the unmined portions is very much unknown, but as you mine ore and more of the resource you get a better idea. So, I think that the production and performance shows this perfectly: the average carats per hundred tonnes goes up and down, and the number of specials goes up and down, week to week and month to month. But it's showing, on average, they are making money. Which holders already know because....they're making money!
It's a giant suck it and see exercise, and it's coming up apples for the company.
I think the gravity survey is a good targeting tool for getting an idea of where to drill, but I really became interested in LOM after the announcement last year where there were angular garnets in the gravel, showing that the diamonds and garnets hadn't travelled far from the source. Whether the source is economic, well, you can hope, and gravity will assist LOM in drilling the right areas, but the best result for a kimberlite is going to be a good six to twelve months off, afer the confirmation drillholes, and a large and expensive set of bulk tests, etc.
I mean, we know there's a mineralised kimberlite on the block. Maybe several. People will get excited when it's found. But just because you made money digging alluvials doesn't mean the source is economic.
400 carat stones are pretty encouraging, though!
