the period of 1966 to 1983, what a coincidence?
The last great commodity price boom of the 1970s, or more specifically 1968–1982 (1980 was the peak year for oil and gold).
If this is the case, the first scenario is more comparable:
In 1974, commodity boom is well in its middle of cycle, US$3 to almost US$12 in six months from October 1973 and March 1974. Between January 1971 and January 1975, the price of gold jumped from US$38 to US$177.
Everyone knows what happened to commodities now.
Well, every crisis is unique. May be the current one is the cross of 1929-32 and 1973-74, which could be a very dangerous one.
