If the alinement is every 25,800 years then geologist should see a polar reversal every 25,800 years, it more like several million years apart and is most likely related to major asteroid hits (ones that punch into the molten mantel rather than hit the hard solidified surface).

As for the Chinese throwing coins in the air, I ask you.
