    jaolsa, thanks, thats a useful consideration too. I think its probably a really significant difference between selling loser trades and selling winning trader within the same stock or even the same portfolio. Of course, your account balance looks the same whatever you do in this regard, but there is a difference in where your profit of loss lays - in my case today, profit would lay with stocks remaining in the portfolio if I did fifo, but would lay with the cash balance of I did filo. Aside from the tax difference, its just an accounting and perception difference. That is, where do i want my profit to appear on the books. Actually, I'm off to see the accountant tomorrow where no doubt I'll get a full explanation of the difference. cheers!
