volt, you may be long enough in the tooth to remember the '74 to '75 stock market rally where the market made a 50 % run in the face of bad news, terrible news. not saying it will happen, just that it can.
you don't need good news for the market to rally - just think of the most unlikely thing to happen and at least be prepared for it.
