Personally I try to avoid predictions by so called experts and gurus. I got bitten by Prechter just after the 87 crash. Once is enough. I keep in touch with a few of the main ones for interest only and I never let them alter my approach to short term trading. In any case long term predictions are useless for short term traders. Even if I knew for sure we were to have a crash say in a month (please note I have no idea) it would not stop me going long in the meantime to take advantage of a likely rally. One simple reason is the crash could be starting 20% higher from current levels. So, find one or more techniques that suit your trading style and refine it as time goes by. I have no idea of your level and amount of trading experience but it goes without saying it takes a lot of trials and tribulations to become a good trader.
