don't get me wrong, i believe banking and insurance is complementary and can fit well. but i think you need a certain size to captitalise on that model and imo Sun not there yet. WBC+ Sun, yes. Sun + PMN prob (though the banking business still a tad small).

xxx (any big bank)+ sun + pmn? sure, but can the bank afford it? and would pmn want to dilute its short-med term value so?

Another interesting question is what's iag gonna do? it's sp shot up in expectation. from memory, qbe went down. is that because sun beat qbe to pmn, or because maybe qbe looking for iag? speculations are fun.
