We have had our eldest go through Montessori pre-school, age 3-6 and she really enjoyed it and also learned lots. It is a great foundation for further education. When she started proper school in year 1, she settled in well socially and academically. Her reading was well advanced, although no idea if this was Montessori or her own love of reading. Our son is also currently at the same pre-school and going well and our youngest is enrolled to go next year.
