    Exactly right - that is what I find most disturbing about the Montgomery team.

    They hold themselves out as being the king of value investors (and preach the theory of value investing), taking a long term, through the cycle view of high quality businesses that they say they are willing to hold for years.

    In reality, they trade rumours, heresay, short term business issues, and are completely focused on the short term (ie the next reporting season). Nothing wrong with that - it is astute.

    However it is completely contrary to what they tell their investors.

    They state "Investing with Montgomery requires a rejection of conventional attitudes towards the stock-market and SHORT TERM MEASUREMENT. Our philosophy is appropriate for the patient investor."

    Montgomery would have to be one of the least patient investors out there, given their exit and entering of stocks based on short term considerations
