Sargeant, yes, a good approach is to use fundamentals to filter which companies to trade so you're not sucked into dogs but then use techncials to trade it.
A similar approach is to use an FA filter to ensure you only short weak companeis and trade long on strong companies.
NCM is weak and should fall, but gold price is holding up. We'll know soon which direction wins out.
